The Likhachevs House is located in the central part of Kazan. This is an architectural monument of the first half of the 19th century.

The building was built in 1834 in the classicism style. The house belonged to Andrei Fedorovich Likhachev. Two street facades overlook B. Krasnaya and Bekhtereva streets, they are decorated with porticoes with arched niches. There is a “Venetian” window with a balcony on the corner of the building. In the late 19th century, a wrought-iron fence was installed on the balcony. The second floor has large windows, highlighted on the sides by two columns, which are united by a wedge-shaped arch with a small relief stucco rosette. The ground floor is rusticated with arched windows. There were seven rooms on the first floor of the building. In the southern part of the house there were utility rooms, an entrance hall, a kitchen and a dining room. On the second floor there were ceremonial premises and living rooms.

Andrey Fedorovich Likhachev (1832 - 1890) was a representative of the ancient noble family of the Likhachevs, which has been known since the 15th century. Many representatives of this family were passionate about collecting weapons, paintings, books. A.F. Likhachev was a collector of historical antiquities. The choice of occupation was influenced by the fact that the Likhachev family estate was located near the ancient city of Bolgar. It was there that he had the opportunity to become closely acquainted with ancient finds and with such sciences as archeology, ethnography and numismatics.

After the death of A.F. Likhachev, his huge collection of antiquities was bought from his widow by his brother I. Likhachev (vice admiral of the Russian fleet) and donated to the city. Based on the Likhachev collection, which included collections of paintings, coins, medals, ethnographic objects and various antiquities, in 1895 the Kazan City Scientific and Industrial Museum named after A.F. Likhacheva. This collection is a very important part of the funds of the currently existing National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Currently, the Likhachevs' House houses the Higher Business School named after Tupolev.
