The Moscow State Art Gallery of People's Artist of the USSR A. Shilov is located on Znamenka Street. The gallery is located in a mansion of the early 19th century, designed by the architect E.D. Tyurin.

In 1996, People's Artist of the USSR, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts A.M. Shilov, turned to the Russian Federation's State Duma with a proposal to donate more than 350 of his best robots to the Fatherland. His gift was accepted. By the Moscow Government's decision, the Moscow State Picture Gallery of the People's Artist of the USSR A.M.Shilov was established.

The gallery was opened in 1997. From 1998-2003, A.M. Shilov donated another 400 works. In 2003, the construction of a new gallery building was completed by the architect M.M. Posokhin. In 2010, after restoration, new halls were opened for the first time in house No. 7. The gallery annually hosts exhibitions of new author's robots donated to Russia. The gallery displays portraits, genre paintings, landscapes, and still lifes. The section of graphics occupies a special place in the collection. It is where Portrait Meetings are often held. The heroes of the works of A. M. Shilov take part in them. Literary and art evenings are held regularly. Holding concerts of classical and chamber music within the walls of the gallery has already become a tradition. The concerts were attended by Yuri Bashmet, Vladimir Matorin, Zurab Sotkilava, Elena Obraztsova, Igor Butman, and many others.

The gallery annually hosts exhibitions of new author's robots donated to Russia. The collection now numbers over 900 pieces.
