The Central Museum of the Federal Border Service of the FSB of Russia is located on Yauzsky Boulevard. The museum was founded in February 1914. It was created at the Headquarters of the Border Guard Corps in St. Petersburg. However, it lasted only a few months. The museum was re-created in 1932. It was under the jurisdiction of the Main Political Directorate of the Border Troops of the OGPU NKVD of the USSR. In 1935, the museum was transferred to the Higher School of Border Troops of the NKVD of the USSR.

During the Great Patriotic War, the museum was evacuated to the city of Tashkent. After the war, the museum returned to Moscow. Since 1977 the museum has been functioning as the Central Museum of Border Troops. In 1991, the management of the border troops was separated into an independent federal service. The museum was transferred to her authority.

Its real name is the Central Museum of the Federal Border Service of the Russian Federation - the museum has been wearing it since 1997. The building that houses the museum was built in 1908. The author of the project was the architect N. Evlanov. Today the museum is a research, cultural and educational institution, collecting relics of the border service, telling about its activities and stages of development.

The theme of the museum expositions is devoted to the history of the border troops. The expositions feature documentary materials of the first chairman of the Cheka F. Dzerzhinsky and his deputy V. Menzhinsky, photocopies of documents directly related to the organization and development of the USSR border service since 1918. In the museum you can see maps and diagrams of sections of the USSR border.
