Photo and descriptionLiterary and Musical Museum " Chaliapin's Dacha " is located in the center of Kislovodsk, at the intersection of Semashko and Chaliapin streets, not far from the railway station. The museum was founded in 1883; today it occupies the premises of a spa mansion, built in 1903. The building was built in the Art Nouveau style, the author of the project was the famous at that time in Kislovodsk architect Khodjaev Emmanuil Bagdasarovich. The first owner of the building was Pelageya Stepanovna Ushakova, the wife of an influential merchant, who rented out rooms at a reasonable price. In 1914, the mansion with all the utility rooms passed into the possession of the Cossack general G.N. Abrezov. In 1917, Fedor Chaliapin and his family visited the dacha. After that, the building was named "Chaliapin's Dacha" which has survived to this day. In 1917, the mansion was nationalized, after which a hostel functioned here, various services were located, including the Semashko sanatorium. Currently, the mansion is occupied by the Dacha Shalyapin Literary and Music Museum, which is one of the most important cultural centers of the city. The museum hosts literary and musical evenings, classical music concerts. The exhibits of the museum are no less interesting. It contains a collection of rare books, photographs with views of the old Kislovodsk, materials related to the name of Fyodor Chaliapin, recordings of his voice.
