Photo and description

The Carpathian Biosphere Reserve is a nature conservation area located in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine. The reserve is one of the largest and most interesting objects of the country's natural reserve fund, which is very popular not only in Ukraine, but also abroad.

The Carpathian Biosphere Reserve was founded in 1968. In 1992 it was included in the UNESCO international network of biosphere reserves. About 2.5 percent of the entire territory of the Carpathian region is protected by a biosphere reserve, the ecosystems of which are among the most valuable on our planet.

Throughout the history of the reserve, its territory has repeatedly increased. Today the reserve covers a total area of about 58,000 hectares, of which the area of the protected area is 32,000 hectares.

The Carpathian Biosphere Reserve includes six massifs, as well as several botanical reserves of national importance, namely: "Yulievskaya Gora", "Chornohora" and the regional landscape park " Freezing cold ". All of them are located on the territory of the Rakhiv, Vinogradov and Khust districts of the Transcarpathian region, at an altitude of 180 to 2060 meters.

The largest massifs of the biosphere reserve are: Ugolsko-Shirokoluzhnyansky massif, covering the largest area of beech forests in Europe; Montenegrin massif, the hallmark of which is the highest peak of Ukraine - Mount Hoverla; Svidovetsky array; Marmaros massif; Kuzi massif, and, of course, the most famous massif - the Valley of the Narcissus, which is the pearl of Transcarpathia.

The nature of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve is very diverse - it is amazingly beautiful mountains, forests, rivers and streams with crystal clear waters, treeless rocks, foothill oak forests, alpine meadows and even alpine meadows. The landscape of the reserve is rich enough and surprises with its landscapes and panoramas.
