Photo and description

Wat Saket is also called the Temple of the Golden Mountain - the golden chedi stands on top of an artificial hill. A circular staircase with statues and tombstones leads to a small sanctuary. A magnificent panorama of Bangkok opens from here.

This is one of the oldest temple complexes in the city. It was built during the reign of King Rama I, and the first artificial mountain was poured under Rama III. Subsequently, under King Rama V, a 76-meter hill was poured. The temple contains sacred relics brought by King Rama V from India.
