Photo and description

In 1960, on the 15th anniversary of the Victory Day, money from the indemnity paid by Germany for the damage caused to the cities of the Soviet Union was transferred to the city treasury. The local leadership of Novorossiysk decided to invest these funds in the construction of a planetarium. The initiator of this idea was the lecturer of the Orenburg Planetarium V. Dunets, who had recently arrived in Novorossiysk from Orenburg. The city administration accepted this idea. The construction of the planetarium proceeded quickly enough and in July 1961 the institution received its first visitors.

Since 2000, the planetarium has been a landmark not only of Novorossiysk, but of the entire Krasnodar Territory. It was recognized as an object of historical and cultural heritage. The planetarium was named after the first cosmonaut Yu.A. Gagarin, and this is not surprising at all. During the construction of the planetarium in April 1961, Yuri Gagarin went into space.

The observation hall of the Novorossiysk planetarium can accommodate 60 people. In the center of the hall there is a special demonstration apparatus with a diameter of 8 meters, the manufacturer of which is the famous German company "Karl Zeiss". This device allows you to reproduce on the screen an accurate picture of the planets of the solar system, the starry sky, auroras, as well as comets, meteors and many other astronomical objects and phenomena.

The popularity of the planetarium is still quite high, despite the spread films of 3D format and computer games. The largest number of visitors to the planetarium is observed in the summer, when a huge number of Russians come to rest on the coast. After all, planetariums are not available in all cities of the country, even the largest ones.
