Photo and description

Pakostane is a tiny tourist town in Croatia, belongs to Zadar County. It is home to more than four thousand inhabitants, most of whom are Croats.

The location of the village is unique - on the one hand, it is washed by the waves of the Adriatic Sea, and on the other hand, Vransko Lake rises to it, which is only six kilometers away. Prior to the territorial reorganization in Croatia, Pakostane was part of the large municipality of Biograd na Moru. The picturesque surroundings of Pakostane comprise four national parks and two nature parks.

The history of this village goes back to ancient times, when there was a Roman settlement in its place. Today it is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Croatia.

There is a school in Pakostane, preparing professional majorettes - girls participating in parades. The school was opened in 1996, since then the pupils have repeatedly participated in competitions and festivals. The Pakostani majorettes wear naval uniforms, besides, they hold gold rods in their hands, and these are the only dancers in Europe equipped in this way.

There are several ancient churches in the city. There are three small islands near Pakostane, which local residents call “Vera”, “Hope”, “Love”.
