Photo and description

The cultural and tourist complex "Archeopark" is a natural monument located in the south-west of the city of Khanty-Mansiysk, at the foot of the picturesque Samarovsky glacial outlier. The complex is a unique geological formation. The total area of the monument is 3.5 hectares. In its surroundings, a natural corner of the northern taiga with its amazing landscapes has been preserved.

At the top of the hill is the possible residence of the Ostyak prince Samara - the so-called Samarov town. It was in honor of this prince that the village was named. According to numerous archaeological finds, the first people settled here long before the founding of the village of Samarovo (today - Khanty-Mansiysk).

Scientists also claim that not far from the sites of primitive man one could meet real mammoths. In memory of this, in 2007, on the 425th anniversary of the city of Khanty-Mansiysk, the first sculptural group of seven figures of these animals was installed on the retaining embankment.

The composition "Mammoths" has a very original arrangement: the giants seem to have just emerged from the forest and are walking at the foot of the Samarovsky hill. The composition consists of seven sculptures - a whole family, headed by a huge mammoth 70 tons and 8 meters in height. The smallest participant in the procession is a mammoth, 3 meters tall. In the dark, the composition is illuminated.

The grand opening of the cultural and tourist complex "Archeopark" took place in autumn 2008. By the end of 2009, such sculptures and sculptural groups were installed here: Wolf Pack, Primitive Man Camp, Primitive Bison, Woolly Rhinoceroses, Big Horned Deer, Cave Bears and Cave Lion. The figures of all animals are scaled in various proportions - from life-size to enlarged 2-3 times. The last sculptures: "Herd of Ancient Horses" and "Beavers" were installed in September 2010

Today this cultural and tourist complex has become not only one of the main attractions of the city of Khanty-Mansiysk, but also a favorite place recreation of local residents.
