Photo and description

Trazberg Castle is located in Austria, on the banks of the Inn River, near the town of Schwaz. The castle was built in 1500 as a fortress protecting the neighboring county from constant enemy attacks. Ancient chronicles indicate that already in 1296 there was an old castle Trazperch on this place, which was destroyed during a strong fire.

The castle owes its prosperity to Maximilian I. The emperor used Trazberg for his hunting trips. He liked to come to the castle for secluded relaxation, and did not spare money for the luxurious interior decoration of the castle. By his order, the castle was reconstructed: the number of living quarters increased, the castle was increased in height and given a Gothic look.

The castle has preserved an excellent collection of weapons, portraits of the family of Emperor Maximilian I, amazing beauty royal room that belonged to Anna of Bohemia. The premises of the castle are perfectly preserved: a carved ceiling, powerful beams, elegant paneling, as well as a door made of mosaics in 1515! In many halls of the castle you can admire the hunting trophies of the imperial family.

In the early 19th century, during the Napoleonic Wars, the castle was plundered, after which it was practically abandoned. The new owner became Count Enzenberg in 1848, his descendants currently own the castle, living in it. At the same time, the castle is open to tourists. There is a small museum.
