In addition to the ruins of the castle, tourists are attracted to these places by beautiful mountain landscapes and small temples. Hachioji Castle is a testament to the hostilities that took place in this area in the 14th century. Hachioji is surrounded by mountains on three sides, on one of them - Mount Shiroyama - in 1570 a representative of the influential Hojo Ujiteru family built a castle. 20 years later, the ruler Hideyoshi, who was engaged in the unification of Japanese lands, destroyed it. The battle on the slopes of Shiroyama was fierce and bloody, however, the owner of the castle lost it and was forced to commit seppuku - the ritual suicide of a samurai. For a long time no one dared to touch the ruined castle, rumor even inhabited it with ghosts and ghosts. But in 1990, they decided to restore part of the castle. In particular, you can see fragments of the residence of the local ruler - the bridge, walls and the entrance to the castle. Hachioji received city status in the 1917 century.
