Biological Museum of Lucerne (Naturmuseum Luzern) description and photos - Switzerland: Lucerne. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The title in English is Naturmuseum Luzern. Photo & DescriptionThe Biological Museum of Lucerne is an amazing place to explore natural history literally by touch. The history of the museum dates back to the 18th century Kunstkamera, and even then its collection was quite interesting. Now the exposition presents the remains of ancient animals and mannequins of our distant ancestors, and even the "Dragonstone", the origin of which is told by the legend: it is nothing but the frozen fiery saliva of a dragon living on Mount Pilatus. Forget everything you knew about dusty and boring paleontological museums. Here in Lucerne, the history of the ancient world is a real trip to Jurassic Park, where dinosaurs and other giant reptiles await visitors. Another permanent exhibition, Biology, tells about the Swiss flora and fauna, and here you can see many living representatives of the latter - in terrariums and aquariums. And for lovers of something airy - the exhibition "The Amazing World of Insects." If you are traveling with children, then the Biological Museum should be given at least a couple of hours - this is hardly enough to go around all the halls, touch everything exhibits and see at least a few documents about the origin of life on earth, filmed like a fascinating TV movie. The museum is located on the Kazernenplatz square. It is easy to reach from the station along the Reuss embankments (south bank), a walk will take 10 minutes. Landmark - Spreuerbrucke bridge (second covered wooden bridge from the lake). The Biological Museum is adjacent to the white building of the Historical Museum, which is easily recognizable by the fresco on the facade.
