The local history museum in the city of Yelsk is already 35 years old. It was founded in 1976 on the basis of the Museum of People's Glory, which has existed since 1966. At the moment, the museum has more than 3871 items. The total area of the museum exposition is 103 square meters.

The museum tells the history of the city. The first exposition "Revolution, civil war, the period of collectivization" tells about the difficult revolutionary years, the first collective farms and collective achievements.

The theme of the second exposition: "The Great Patriotic War."
