The Randers Museum of Fine Arts is located in the city center. The museum displays some of the most outstanding works by Danish artists. Particular attention is paid to works dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries.

The museum was founded in 1887 and contains a collection of more than 4 thousand canvases, including works by Danish masters Christopher, Wilhelm Eckersberg , Kristen Kobke, Wilhelm Hammerschoy and many others. Artists representing the 20th century are Wilhelm Landstrom, Wilhelm Freddy and Asger Jorn. The golden age of Danish painting is represented by the works of Kobke, Eckersberg, Marstrand, Keen. Danish naturalism is conveyed in the works of Hammerschoy, Ferdinand Willemsen and others. Works by contemporary artists are also presented.

At the moment, the museum occupies the building of the cultural center of the city of Randers. The architect who designed this building was Flemming Lassen. It was opened in 1969. In February 2009, the Danish company 3XN was awarded the right to build a new building for the Museum of Fine Arts. The new building, one might say, connects city and province, nature and art. Covering an area of 7,550 square meters, the building contains three exhibition galleries, an auditorium, a cafe and a shop.

The museum is annually visited by many tourists, programs for students and schoolchildren are held.
