The Museum of Fine Arts is located in the historic center of Ribe, but on the opposite bank of the Ribe O from the cathedral. It is dedicated to the fine arts and sculpture of Denmark, from the 18th century to the present. In total, the museum contains almost a thousand exhibits. The Ribe Museum of Fine Arts is located in a picturesque place - not far from the Ribe-O river. The building, which houses the museum itself, also has an important historical value. Previously, there was a villa of a wealthy manufacturer. It was built in the years 1860-1864 of bright red brick and consists of three floors, including an attic. The main facade of the building is decorated with a high triangular pediment. A cozy garden was laid out behind this house, facing directly to the river bank. On its territory was built an elegant octagonal summer pavilion, made in the Byzantine style.

The museum presents the entire history of Danish art, starting with the dawn of the Golden Age of Danish art (1750) and ending with symbolism and modernism related already by 1940. The early period includes Christoffer Eckersberg and Kristen Kobke, who worked in the first half of the 19th century, but the realist artist Peder Severin Kreyer, and Christian Zartmann, author of a series of paintings on the role of women in Danish history, and the famous pair of artists from Skagen are also worth noting. - Michaela and Anna Anker. L.A. Ring is one of the prominent representatives of later styles in painting, including social realism.

In addition to the permanent collection, the museum often hosts temporary exhibitions, where paintings and sculptures are exhibited, mainly brought from other museums located in neighboring cities - in Skagen, Foborg and so on.
