The Opera and Ballet Theater of the Komi Republic traces its history back to August 26, 1958. On this day, the premiere screening of the musical performance `` Eugene Onegin '' took place in Syktyvkar P.I. Tchaikovsky. The first artistic director of the theater is vocalist and actor B. Deineka. With his associates and colleagues, he created a close-knit team of professionals. This generation laid the foundation for the traditions of acting, which are intertwined with the art of vocal.

From the beginning of its existence, the theater included in its repertoire the best examples of world ballet, opera and operetta classics, works of contemporary domestic and foreign composers. Many of the theater's performances have been awarded all-Union and state awards.

The theater has toured different cities of the country. These are Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Tver, Bryansk, Kremenchug, Poltava, Ufa, Orenburg and others. Well-known conductors have successfully worked with the theater collective: V.P. Kaplun-Vladimirsky, V. Malakhov, N. Klaus, Yu. Proskurov; directors: I. Orlovsky, K. Vasiliev, I. Bobrakova and ballet masters: G. Vakhovsky, L. Bordzilovskaya, L. Flegmatov, B. Myagkov and others. Throughout the entire period of its existence, the theater was rich in creative individuals. Among them are Y. Glavatsky, G. Kuznetsovskaya, V. Mikhailov, Y. Fomin and others.

In 1969 the theater moved to a new building, which became the basis for its further creative growth. At the same time, the theater began to exist separately from the musical and drama theater and became an independent collective. In 1960, the opera " Thunderstorm over Ust-Kulom " G. Dekhtyarova. Minkusa, " The Firebird " I. Stravinsky, " Giselle " A. Adana. The repertoire of this theater includes the best classical operettas: Mister X, My Fair Lady, The Merry Widow, Don Juan in Seville, Maritza, The Bat other. Particular attention is paid to young spectators in the theater. Traditionally, one or two performances are staged for children every season.

The Syktyvkar Opera and Ballet Theater has become a prominent Russian theater, where ballet and opera stars from Europe and Russia perform with pleasure. This is noticeable in the annual festivals: `` Syktyvkar Spring '' and Golden Swallows. Permanent organizer and director of the festival of ballet and opera art `` Syktyvkar Spring '' I.
