A small park in the historic center of Veracruz is named after General Manuel Gutierrez Zamora. A monument dedicated to this hero can be seen near the entrance to the park. It was installed in 1892 and has not changed its location since then, although the city authorities are constantly trying to move it to a remote corner of the park. Previously, the Tenoya River flowed through the park, which explains the presence of such lush vegetation here. From the south, the park is bordered by the Salvador Diaz Miron shopping center, from the north - by Ignacio District street, from the east - by Independence Avenue, and from the west - by 5 May street. Zamora Park is a witness to many historical events that took place in the city.

Old photographs show the central fountain of Zamora Park, instead of which tourists now find a newsstand. It stands right in the center of this green islet, and all the paths of the park lead to it. Many residents of the city come to the park to feed the squirrels. The park is also popular with visitors who gladly hide from the heat in the local shady alleys.

Among the attractions of the Zamora Park, it is worth noting two library buildings.

During the recent reconstruction of the city square, old metal benches and a low wall with a bronze plaque were removed, telling about the restoration work carried out in the park in 1991. The workers also removed the balustrade, which was installed not so long ago - at the end of the 20th century.

Soon a high-speed tram line will be built in the center of Veracruz, the final stop of which will be just the Zamora Park.
