The house-museum of German colonists is located in the Zaporozhye region of the Chernihiv region. It was built back in 1848 by Arnold Peterson, a German immigrant. Nikolai Eremenko bought this old German estate and almost completely on a voluntary basis created a museum out of it. Eremenko is a historian, entrepreneur, deputy, and also an amateur local historian.

Today in the museum you can see an exposition of various household items of ancient representatives of the Mennonite community, many of whom found refuge and found a second home on the fertile lands of Ukraine, lived in peace and developed their culture, not forgetting to maintain in full the order of the territory that was around.

In the 30-40s of the 16th century, Mennonite communities were first founded by Menno Simonson. His followers lived mainly in Canada, the USA, Germany and the Netherlands, where the ancestors of the Zaporozhye settlers came from. These people had their own ideas about how the village should be. Their houses were characterized by spaciousness and light, and their yards were completely lined with gardens and flowers. All people were literate and communicated in a fairly decent, almost impeccably correct Little Russian speech.

At the moment, this small museum can tell its visitors about these people and their life. There are various exhibits here: Mennonite household implements, antique furniture that adorned their homes at that time, clocks, various technical tools and a large number of tiles - it is so diverse, that any city museum can envy this collection.

The house is quite old, 1848. The residential part of the building was preserved, and the utility part was completely destroyed. In the late 19th - early 20th centuries, several generations of immigrants from Holland and Germany lived here, lived and raised their children, assimilating with the local population.
