Graben is a pedestrian zone in the center of Vienna, an area of the most fashionable shops and boutiques, restaurants and cafes, antique and second-hand shops.

In the center of the square rises the baroque Plague column, also called the Trinity column. It was erected by order of Emperor Leopold I after the end of a long-term plague epidemic at the end of the 17th century. At the top of the column are statues depicting the Emperor praying to the Holy Trinity.

There are two buildings built according to the designs of the famous architect Otto Wagner - early works of the classic Viennese Art Nouveau: the house of the Anker insurance company and the pompous house of Graben-Hof. Nearby is the Jewish Museum and the Dorotheum Auction House.
