Mamedovo gorge description and photos - Russia - South: Lazarevskoye. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photos and a map showing the nearest significant objects. Photo and descriptionThe valley of the Kuapse river in the Mamedov gorge narrows sharply, forming a canyon. In summer, at a low water level, it is quite passable. Colorful cliffs of the Cretaceous period entwined with green ivy in places joining at the top at a height of 3 meters, form an arched passage. Thick limestone icicles hang from the ceiling. The walls are covered with bizarre drip formations. And outside - nature is raging, birds are singing. Huge oaks and chestnuts rise above the cliffs, like guards; streams murmur. Behind the tunnel, the gorge suddenly widens to reveal the dazzling White Hall. It is produced by the eroding force of the current at the bend of the river. A small stream, the right tributary of the Kuapse River, cascades down one of the walls of the White Hall from a ten-meter height. Due to its original shape, the waterfall is called Mamed's Beard. In dry weather, beard becomes rare, or even dries up altogether. On the same stream, fifty meters from the waterfall, there is an interesting handsome cascade, under which a falling stream of water gouged a grotto and a cauldron. This is Mamed's Bath. It is filled with clean cold water. Ferns hang from the surrounding walls. We also recommend reading St. White's Church (Pfarrkirche hl.
