The A. Solovyanenko Opera House of Donetsk was built according to the project of L. Kotovsky in 1941, on the eve of the war. This monumental building was erected in the spirit of the then inherent socialist realism and crowned with heavy bas-reliefs and a very voluminous sculpture.

The building of this theater itself is executed in a classical style. The approaches to the theater building are located from three sides. As for the auditorium and the theater itself from the inside, both the walls and the ceilings are adorned with magnificent decorations - stucco and gilding. In the foyer of the theater, you can see huge decorative vases, as well as statues of famous writers and composers. The hall has 976 seats. Although initially there were 1300 of them. The theater has a mechanized stage, which consists of a main stage, with an area of about 560 square meters. The circle of this stage can withstand a load of up to 75 tons.

Such famous artists as Y. Gulyaev, A. Solovyanenko, V. Pisarev and I. Dorofeeva have grown up in the troupe of the Donetsk theater. In front of the theater building there is a monument to A. Solovyanenko covered with gold, it is presented in the image of the Duke from the famous opera Rigoletto and symbolizes the “golden voice of the 20th century.”

Since 1993, the theater has hosted a famous international festival, which is called “Stars of the World Ballet”. Its founder and artistic director is the Ukrainian People's Artist V. Pisarev, who was once awarded the UNESCO prize “The Best Dancer of the World - 95”. & Nbsp; And in December 1999 the theater was named after the Ukrainian-Soviet opera singer A. B. Solovyanenko, the decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
