The Church of the Holy Spirit in Kitzbuhel is often called a hospital church. Duke Stephan von Baern in 1412 gave permission to build a hospital in Kitzbuhel and a church with it, consecrated in honor of the Holy Spirit.

Unfortunately, in 1836, when creating a new highway, the Gothic temple had to be demolished, and instead, on a new site located to the north-east of the previous one, a new sacred building in the classical style was built. This temple can be found on Kirchgasse Street. A modest, simple structure does not differ in impressive dimensions. Its main decoration is a small turret mounted on a hipped roof.

The Church of the Holy Spirit consists of one nave. Despite the simple design of the facades, real treasures are hidden under the canopy of the temple, admire which many tourists come. The simple altar in 1961 was decorated with the image of the Holy Trinity, created in 1740 by the artist Simon Benedict Festenberger. In the nave there are huge canvases depicting Jesus Christ on the way to Golgotha and the Lord on the Cross. The figure of Jesus in the paintings is painted at life size, so these works of art make an indelible impression. Also in the small temple are kept rare wooden sculptures dating from the middle of the 15th century and of high value.

The Church of the Holy Spirit is open not only during services. The city authorities and church leaders are well aware that tourists will want to see the relics of the temple, and therefore provide them with such an opportunity.
