For a long time he could not find a job and was literally starving. Finally, in 1902, under the patronage of a friend, Einstein received a post in the Federal Patent Office, which examines and grants patents for various inventions. A stable income gives Einstein the opportunity to pursue science. In 1903 he married Mileva Maric, whom he had known since his student years, and they moved to this apartment on the second floor. It was here that Einstein lived in 1905, which entered his biography as the "Year of Miracles."
