Photo and description

The only marine national park in Mozambique covers 5 large and more than a hundred small islands of the Bazaruto archipelago, located in the Indian Ocean, and covers an area of 1430 square kilometers.

Among the five largest two islands - Bang, which is periodically hidden under water, and Santa Carolina, which was formerly called Paradise, that is, Paradise - are uninhabited. But you can get here by speedboats or dhow boats gliding silently over the waves to soak up the white sand in the shade of green palm trees almost alone.

The other three islands - Bazaruto, Benguerra and Magaruk - are a resort area. There are holiday complexes here, consisting of small bungalows where tourists stay, who decided to spend at least a few days of their vacation in a real paradise. And this is not an exaggeration. There is everything that the most discerning tourist can wish for: a turquoise sea, coral reefs with tropical fish, sand dunes and miniature oases, fresh water lakes where crocodiles live, savannah, where you can see pygmy antelopes. Travelers are offered horseback riding along the edge of the surf, bird watching safari tours, of which there are about 240 species, diving, boat trips to the ocean where you can see whales and dolphins, marlin fishing and much more.

Bazaruto National Marine Park was founded in 1970 and since then is considered one of the main attractions of Mozambique. The park is controlled by the World Conservation Fund.
