The Intercession Church, one of the most ancient temples of Tutaev, was built in 1654. Until 1771, on the site of the Intercession Church, the Novopokrovsky Monastery existed.

The church is a squat one-story refectory-type building. The bell tower, decorated with 17th century green tiles, is attached to the church. As conceived by the builders, the temple was supposed to have, apparently, a second floor. This is indicated, for example, by the unusually thick walls, even for a warm winter church, as well as four extremely massive pillars inside a low vaulted room, designed to serve as a reliable support when erecting floors on the second floor. But for some reason, perhaps for lack of funds to continue construction work, the second tier was never started.

Several interesting icons have survived in the interior of the temple, including the icon of the Mother of God "On the addition of the mind", which is prayed for to strengthen intellectual abilities. Frescoes of the 17th century have been preserved on the walls of the porch.
