Photo and description

In Lausanne, on the shores of Lake Geneva, on the terrace above the embankment, which can be reached by an escalator located behind the fountain, is the building of the Olympic Museum. It is surrounded by the picturesque Olympic Park with avenues of trimmed trees, green lawns and bizarre sculptures depicting groups of athletes installed on them.

The Olympic Museum was opened in 1993. Its founder is the chairman of the International Olympic Committee, Juan Antonio Samaranch. The collection of the museum consists of 1,500 exhibits that tell about the Olympic movement and everything connected with it. The museum is interactive: in the exhibition halls, in addition to static objects, there are information screens, where information about the history of the Olympics is presented in a simple and understandable form, the most famous athletes in the world, sports equipment, etc.

Part of the exposition of the Olympic Museum is dedicated to the founders of the Olympic Games - the ancient Greeks. As you know, after a long break in 1894, the Olympics were resumed, and for this one should thank Pierre de Coubertin, about whose life and work some local exhibits tell. From the collection presented in the following rooms, guests will learn about the development of various sports through the evolution of special equipment. Glazed windows display skates from the beginning of the century, which could have been worn by our great-grandmothers, heavy golf clubs and tennis rackets, balls, etc. The history of the appearance and development of the Paralympic Games is also told here.

Finally, in the following halls it is presented collection of Olympic medals, of course, only on screens,
