Photo & DescriptionThe Olympic Sports Museum was opened on March 21, 2007 after the project was approved by the Barcelona City Council in 2005. The museum is located on the Montjuic hill, in front of the Olympic Stadium. The museum presents exhibitions that reveal the history of sports from the times of Ancient Greece, where the Olympic Games originated, to the present day. The expositions represent the theme of sports competitions, recreational sports, sports for the disabled. It demonstrates the importance of sport, its influence on the formation of a system of values, education, physical and cultural growth. Each of the four halls of the museum reveals its own theme, to which it is dedicated. The first hall shows important sporting events, moments dedicated to people who are significant in sports. The second hall opens the history of the Olympic Games held in Barcelona in 1992. The third hall is dedicated to sports records and outstanding victories. There are exhibits such as Miguel Indurain's bike, Angel Nieto and Alex Krivele motorcycles, Mickey Hakkinen's Formula 1 car and many others. The fourth hall is dedicated to the time when the International Olympic Committee was headed by Juan Antonio Samaranch from Barcelona. Here are the things that belonged to him, as well as a large number of medals, torches, paintings, photographs, insignia, sports trophies, posters, publications and publications on sports topics. All this was presented to the Museum by Samaranch himself. In 2010, the Museum was renamed the Juan Anthony Samaranch Olympic Sports Museum.
