Cathedral of the Archangel Michael is one of the sights of the city of Pyatigorsk, located along Kozlova street. The construction of the church of the Archangel of God Michael began on May 10, 1884. The cathedral was erected for the inhabitants of the Konstantinogorskaya settlement. The settlement was founded during the construction of the railway that connected Kislovodsk and Mineralnye Vody.

The temple was built with funds donated by residents of the city in the order of the people's construction on holidays and outside working hours. The initiator of the construction of the cathedral was Archpriest Ioann Belyakov, who later became the rector of the temple. On May 3, 1898, a solemn consecration of the church in honor of the Archangel Michael took place.

During the communist hard times in the city of Pyatigorsk, 8 churches were closed. At the same time, the Cathedral of Archangel Michael remained active. And yet, in 1936 it was also closed. During the occupation of Pyatigorsk, German troops opened and repaired the church, after which services began to be held in it again.

The Cathedral remained in effect until 1961. In the 40s. 20 Art. a cold storage facility was erected near the temple, which, while developing, began to expand the territory, coming close to the church. Having received the temple at its disposal, the cold storage facility used it as a warehouse for chemicals, which led to the partial destruction of the cathedral. Through the overwhelming efforts of Vladyka Gedeon, Metropolitan of Vladikavkaz and Stavropol, the church in 1990 was nevertheless returned to believers. The cathedral was rebuilt in the same way as it was built - by the whole world.

The building of the Pyatigorsk Cathedral of Michael the Archangel is unique. It is an example of stone temples of the late 19th century. This is one of the few remaining churches of this period in southern Russia, which has survived in its original form to this day.
