Photo and description
Golden Bauhinia Square is an open area in the Wanchai region. The attraction was named after a giant statue of a golden flower - a variety of the Bauhinia Blekiana orchid.
The sculpture - a six-meter high gilded bauhinia flower - is installed on a cylindrical base of red granite with a pyramidal base. The monument was created in 1997 in honor of China's acquisition of Hong Kong. The plinth is carved with nine sparkling Chinese characters inscribed by the head of the central government of China, Jiang Zemin.
On the first, eleventh and twenty-first days of each month, a police honor guard in full dress holds a flag-raising ceremony. The process is accompanied by a performance by the police band, which plays the national anthem, and after the end of the official part - another music for about ten minutes.
The Golden Bauhinia Square is one of the most visited places by domestic and foreign tourists. In the evening, the playground is a great place to see the popular Symphony of Lights. - light show on the walls of the surrounding skyscrapers. Below is a 400-meter promenade with stunning views of Victoria Harbor.
