Mass festivities take place here, there are many shops and hotels. The Republic Monument is located in the center of Taksim Square. The project of the monument was created by the Italian architect Pietro Canonica. And the monument itself was erected on the square in 1928, and symbolized the country's transition to a republican form of government. On Taksim Square you can see sculptures of Fevzi Chakmak, Mustafa Ismet Inenu, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, as well as Mikhail Frunze and Clement Voroshilov.
