Due to the 24 wooden columns that supported the carved oak ceiling, this mosque was also called the Forest Mosque. This very ceiling is decorated with an ornament of pentagons. The mosque was built in 1382 and restored in 1413. Its official name is – Aslankhan, or the Lion's House, the mosque received because of two stone lions sitting at the entrance to the mausoleum of Ahi Sharafeddin. From the outside, the mosque looks very simple – its walls are adobe bricks and the roof is covered with Turkish-style tiles. The entrance to the mosque is lined with stones and various decorations. The minaret is located in the northwest of the building. We also recommend reading Yedikule Fortress in Turkey, Istanbul resort Topic: Aslankhan-Kamiyi Mosque in Turkey, Ankara resort. |
