The Museum of Turkish Ceramics is housed in the Tiled Pavilion, which is part of the Archaeological Museum. The pavilion is decorated with blue tiles.

The building of the museum was built by order of Sultan Mehmed II in 1472. The name of the architect who supervised the construction of the building has not survived to this day.

The entrance facade of the Museum of Turkish Ceramics is decorated with a marble portico and 14 columns. The interior is decorated with intricate mosaic paintings made of glazed faience. Before the building housed the Museum of Turkish Ceramics, it housed the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art, and even earlier - – Imperial Museum.
