Photo and description

Natural National Park " Golden Sands " (Zlatni Pyasytsi) is surrounded by the resort complex of the same name. It covers the northeast of the Frangen plateau and stretches along the sea coast. From Varna - the Bulgarian sea capital - it is only 17 kilometers away. It is considered the smallest natural park in Bulgaria, with an area of just over 13 sq. Km.

The park was founded on 02/02/1943, then 2.5 square kilometers of the Khachuk forest were turned into the Golden Sands National Park. The goal of these changes was to preserve flora, fauna and natural landscape. Since then, this zone has been protected by the state as part of a network of national parks.

The relief of this area is hilly, distinguished by a noticeable multi-level. The highest point in the park is 269 meters. It has a continental-Mediterranean climate characterized by cool springs, warm summers and autumn, and mild winters with little snow.

The vegetation in the park is extremely diverse for such a small area. Natural oak forests dominate. In the lower parts of the territory, there are specific to this region ash, poplar, alder and some species of sub-Mediterranean flora. On the territory of the park, one and a half hundred types of medicinal plants grow, more than five hundred higher plants, in addition, you can find algae here - there are about 50 species of them, and the presence of red freshwater algae in water bodies indicates the exceptional ecological state of local water bodies.

The fauna is also very rich here, due to the diversity of the landscape. The park is home to reptiles and amphibians. The most common birds here are woodpeckers, tits, blackbirds and jays, and mammals are wild boars, deer, martens, squirrels, rabbits and others.

For the rest of nature lovers and experienced tourists, the park has special routes for exploring the landscapes and biological diversity of the territory. Conditions have been created for children and photography tourism, as well as for people with disabilities. Recreation points and viewing platforms have been equipped with views of the park, resort and sea.

In addition, on the territory of the park there is a unique rock monastery Aladzha (13-14 centuries), as well as the cave group of the Catacombs - an interesting natural and historical object, studies prove that the Catacombs were inhabited at the very beginning of the Christian era.
