Sea Walls were created in Istanbul to ensure the protection of the city from the Golden Horn and the Sea of Marmara. This defensive structure was erected in the first half of the 5th century by order of the Byzantine emperor Theodosius. The sea walls of Istanbul were not preserved until present, now only ruins are left of them.
