The Museum of Water in Moscow was organized in Moscow in 1993. Its opening took place on June 15. Mosvodokanal was the initiator of the creation of the Museum of Water. The museum exposition was placed on the territory of an old pumping station in Krutitsy.

In the village of Krutitsy, which eventually merged into the city, since 1898 there was the main sewage and pumping station of Moscow. The station is a monument of industrial architecture dating back to the end of the nineteenth century. The project of the station belongs to the Russian architect M. Geppener.

The museum building was built during the Soviet era (1947 - 48)

The museum has two independent expositions. One of them is dedicated to the history of construction and development of water supply and sewerage systems. The exhibits of the exposition are closely related to this theme. For example, a model of the Kremlin water supply system, which was built in 1491, under Ivan III, on his orders. Here you can see documents that tell about the creation of the first city (Mytishchi) water supply system under Catherine II. The exposition presents models of modern hydraulic structures, the most modern water treatment plants used today in Moscow and ancient samples of water mixers.

The second museum exposition is completely devoted to the current state of affairs in urban engineering structures. It reflects the entire complex chain, the whole process from the intake of water from a natural reservoir, its treatment, purification, to subsequent delivery to consumers (industrial and individual).

The materials collected at the Museum of Water are widely used by researchers and students in the preparation of abstracts, scientific articles,
