Photo and description

The famous museum "The World of Forgotten Things" is located in a three-story wooden house from the middle of the 19th century, which was previously home to a wealthy merchant Dmitry Panteleev. The museum is a federal cultural and historical monument. In 2011, the World of Forgotten Things celebrated its 20th anniversary. Every corner of the museum house has its own secret, every thing has traces of the past era. The exposition of the lower floor presents several rooms with a typological interior of a dining room, living room, study and “Sonechka's room” - a nursery.

Walking through the rooms of the house, you can see objects that have long become literally history, which include, for example, a gramophone, and are still in working order. As you know, not everyone could afford such an item. Not a single festive or solemn evening could do without a gramophone; there were times when the gramophone was taken with them to nature. Records for a music player were a little expensive, because they were made from shellac, resin. In addition, it is known that there were chocolate plates, after playing which, they could be eaten. It is this unique device that occupies an important place in the World of Forgotten Things Museum. In addition, the honorable museum place was given to a bamboo bookcase with records. It is unique that in the museum all the items are perfectly integrated into the interior and are located exactly in the places where they were located more than a hundred years ago.

Another important feature of the museum is that each item, even with a small teaspoon or handkerchief, you can learn a lot of new and interesting things.

On the second floor of the museum there are portraits, and some of them even have guests. The descendants of the noblemen Zubovs visit Vologda, coming from Moscow, because it is in this house that the memory of their noble family is still carefully preserved. For example, Nina Vladimirovna, who is a descendant of an ancient clan, collects the family archive of her family, and during one of her last visits, the guest presented the “World of Forgotten Things” with sheet music related to the middle of the 19th century, which were collected and intertwined by her great-grandfather Mikhail Alekseevich Zubov ... In the museum hall, during Christmas meetings, music is almost always played on the piano, sheet music for which has been generously donated to the museum collection. It is worth saying that some music is often played within the walls of the museum, after all, in the distant past times, “musical evenings” were held in this house, which have become a good permanent tradition.

The feature that connects the present and the past is the modern exhibitions that replace one another. When choosing the exhibitions presented on the third floor, several main motives can be traced. On the one hand, the museum of “forgotten things” is not uncommon for exhibitions dedicated to young artists. For example, this summer, in one of the rooms of the museum, it was not the first time that paintings by Smirny Alexei were exhibited, and in November-December, a presentation of some works by an unknown young talented artist from Cherepovets, Alexander Mironov, was held. On the other hand, there is also a “female line”: not so long ago an artist from Vologda Shmeleva Tatiana exhibited her works in the museum. Besides, in this context, numerous exhibitions of toys are exhibited: "Christmas miniatures" and "Christmas in the nursery".

The third theme is presented by exhibitions of original and unusual exhibits, which include butterflies embroidered by man's hands. The artist Yuri Zasovin brings a lot of joy to his work.

Besides, the museum has a lot of amazing and interesting things. Of particular interest is the Sonechkina Room, which contains the most beautiful porcelain toys, a table specially designed for handicraft with embroidered schoolgirls and an old hoop. There is also a children's bicycle in the room, created in the early 19th century.

The museum presents household items that have not been used by modern people for a long time, but have not yet been completely forgotten.
