Photo and description

The Momin-Skok waterfall is located in the Yemen canyon. In ancient times, rivers flowed here, which "cut through" a gorge in the rock. The unusual mountainous relief, which was granted the status of a protected reserve on November 25, 1980, has been forming over many centuries. The canyon is characterized by steep cliffs, in some places reaching a height of 80-90 meters. At the bottom flows a tributary of the Rositsa River - Nigovanka.

You can get to the Momin-Skok waterfall along the Negovanskaya trail - a tourist route starting in the village of Emen. This is the oldest hiking trail in Bulgaria, partly buried in rocks at a height of 50 meters. From here, niches and arches in the mountains are clearly visible, a river running below and waterfalls and much more. Walk on wooden stairs arranged at the very edge of the cliff tops, and the bridges overhanging the canyon are breathtaking.

Closer to the beginning of the path, you can see the Emenskaya cave - one of the deepest in the country, the length of which is 3113 meters.

Further, the trail goes along the course of the Nigovanka river to the waterfall: from a ten-meter height down the stream of water breaks down with a noise. According to legend, here the girls more than once threw themselves off the cliff because of unrequited love or loss of faith.

Momin-Skok flows into a lake surrounded by rocks. The water in this natural pool shimmers in all shades of green. The rocky beach approaching the lake is a great place for picnics with friends and family. Locals and tourists from all over the world come here for various reasons: to look at a natural landmark, to take a break from everyday worries, to retire in the lap of nature, etc.

The total length of the route is about a mile. The journey takes approximately two to three hours.
