Bangkok is the capital and largest city of Thailand, with a population exceeding 5.5 million. It is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, near the Gulf of Thailand. In Thai, the name of the city sounds like Krung Thep or"city of angels".

Most tourists arrive in the city through the Don Muang International Airport of Bangkok, which is located 22 km north of the capital.

Administratively, Bangkok is divided into several districts, the most famous of which are Rattanakosin ("The Highest Jewel") - the historical center of the city and Chinatown, famous for its shops and shops selling Thai souvenirs.
