Photo and description

The gardens of the Turia River are located in Valencia in the place where the river of the same name once flowed. The fact is that in 1957, a severe flood occurred in Valencia, far from the first - the waters of the Turia River overflowed the banks, causing serious damage to the city and claiming about a hundred human lives. In the same year, the government of Valencia decided to move the mouth of the Turia 3 km south. Work on the implementation of the idea was completed by 1973. In the same place where the river once flowed, beautiful gardens were laid out.

The Turia Gardens is a huge area of culture and recreation, which is a complex green park area with monumental structures, sports and playgrounds, recreation areas, lakes, waterfalls and beautiful bridges, reminiscent of the river that once flowed here.

Right on the banks of the former river is the Palau de la Musica, a world-class concert hall built in the 1980s.

The gardens also stretch along the former mouth of the river - these are the Royal Gardens, one of the most significant Valencian parks, called by the inhabitants of Los Vivieros, because there is a menagerie on its territory. This is a Botanical Garden, founded in 1802, which is home to over 7000 species of various shrubs and trees. This is the Garden of Cabecera with many beautiful waterfalls and lakes.

The magnificent bridges deserve special attention. One of the oldest bridges in Valencia is the Trinidad Bridge, built in the 15th century and reconstructed later, which is decorated with statues of St. Luis Bertrand and St. Thomas de Villanueva. A little further, there is the Royal Bridge, which previously connected the city with the Royal Palace. There are also Tsvetochny, Vystavochny, Morskoy and other equally interesting bridges, which you should definitely take a closer look at.
