Geography and   Climate


Lake Placid   is a ski resort on the   East Coast of the United States in   New York State. The southern outskirts of the settlement adjoin   Lake Plesid, in the   central part is Lake Mirror Lake, not far from   the central street of the village passes. The relief is represented by the Appalachian mountain system.

The Winter Olympics of 1932 and   1980   took place on   Lake Placid, it   became the venue for the Goodwill Games in   2000   year.

Lake Placid has its own airport, it is located   2   km from   city. It is convenient to get here from   three major airports. Not   more than   2.5 hours you   cover the distance from Albany (New York), Montreal (Canada) or Burlingon (Vermont) to the   resort. The closest railway station to the   settlement is Westport (64   km).

The resort is influenced by a temperate climate. It often snows here in winter and cold winds blow. The most favorable conditions for skiing come in the spring. Although the ski season lasts from   November to   April.
