Kucuksu Kasra Palace in Turkey, Istanbul resort
Rating: 7,6/10 (130 votes)  Kucuksu Kasra Palace ( Geksu Kasra) is located in Beykoz, in the Asian part of the Bosphorus. The name of the palace in translation into Russian sounds like `` Palace of Malaya Voda '' or the 'Palace of Heavenly Water'. The palace received such names thanks to the small but picturesque rivers flowing in these places – Hex and Kucux. The palace was built by the famous Turkish architects of the Balyan family in 1856-1857 at the direction of Sultan Abdul-Majid I. In the architecture of the Kucuksu Kasra palace, you can see many similarities with the famous Dolmabahce palace. Ottoman Baroque style is the main style of the Kucuksu Kasra palace, but it also contains elements of the Rococo architectural style. The interior design of the palace is somewhat eclectic; here you can see both traditional Turkish motives and European ones. There is a fountain in the courtyard. This fountain was erected in honor of Walida Mihrishah, mother of Sultan Selim III. The basement level of the Kucuksu Kasra Palace houses the service and staff quarters, while the upper floors of the palace include beautifully and very opulently decorated halls and salons. The palace has no bedrooms, as it was used by the Turkish rulers as a place exclusively for daytime rest. An unusual staircase, rarities and jewels attract many tourists here. Here you can see works by Ivan Aivazovsky, Italian marble, gold painted ceilings, huge mirrors, as well as handmade carpets. Since 1944 the palace has had the status of a museum.
