The Suramadu Suspension Bridge is a real symbol and recognizable landmark of Indonesia. Suramadu is the country's longest bridge (5438 meters), connecting the islands of Maduro and Java, and is also the first bridge in the history of Indonesia across the Madura Strait. The construction of this grandiose building by the country's standards began in 2003, lasted six years and cost about $ 500 million (the amount for the Indonesian treasury is truly astronomical).

The bridge was 146 meters high and about 30 meters wide. Movement is carried out in four lanes in each direction, there are also two spare lanes and two lanes for two-wheeled vehicles. Traveling across the bridge by car will cost $ 3, by bike - $ 0.3. Suramadu is of the utmost importance, both for the economic, and for the social development of the entire island of Maduro, which, incidentally, is one of the least developed regions in Indonesia. The bridge significantly lightens the load on ferries and ships, however, it can create significant difficulties for navigation, especially during rush hours.
