Chateau Weilburg Castle, unlike the neighboring medieval castles Rauchenstein and Rauchenek, was built in the 19th century.
Construction of the castle began in 1820 year by decree of Charles, Duke of Austria, winner of the Battle of Aspern. The site at the base of the aqueduct was chosen as the site for the construction. Construction work lasted for five years.
