Initially, the city was built on both sides of the Danube River, and boatmen transported from one bank to the other. In the 15th century, Emperor Frederick III chose the city of Linz as his residence and ordered the construction of a bridge across the Danube, in order to connect the settlements located on both banks of the river. The Nibelungenbrucke Bridge was the first bridge to appear in the city. Today, the bridge is decorated with many flowers and offers a beautiful panorama of both banks of the Danube.
