The temple was built in 1816-1817. by architect Carl Bassi taking into account all religious traditions of Finland. According to Lutheran canon, in plan the church resembles the intersection of a cross and a square. The altar with the image of the crucified Christ is located at the eastern the walls of the temple. This image of the crucifixion is a copy of the painting by Pierre Pudhoni, exhibited at the Louvre. Today you can see the original pristine church facade and old bells, cast in 1752, thanks to the restoration work. Entrance to the church of the rural parish is free, but for tourists its doors are open only in summer.
