Church Orthodox Museum in Finland, Aland Islands resort
Rating: 7,9/10 (102 votes)  The Church Orthodox Museum is one of the most significant museums dedicated to religion and the church in Western Europe. The museum belongs to the Finnish Orthodox church government and has the status of a state one. The Church Museum in Kuopio was founded in 1957, and the building for it was built in 1969. The museum exhibits a variety of icons, church utensils from the Valaam and Konevets monasteries, liturgical vestments and other items. Most of the exhibits date back to the 18th-19th centuries, and the oldest items date from the Middle Ages. Quite a significant part of the exhibits entered the collection during the Second World War.
