Lappeenranta Cavalry Museum is an interesting museum in a Finnish city dedicated to the history of the Finnish cavalry and wars of different years.

Lappeenranta has always been known as a cavalry city. Finland became an autonomous principality within the Russian Empire in 1809, and before that was part of Sweden. In 1878, its own army was created, the dragoon regiment of which was located in Lappeenranta in 1889, where several barracks were built specifically for this. In 1947, the history of cavalry in Finland came to an end, but tradition and heritage are still preserved and passed on to generations thanks to the activities of various foundations and associations.

The Cavalry Museum of Lappeenranta is housed in the former guardhouse of the Linnoitus Fortress, the oldest city building, created at the beginning of the 18th century. The first exhibition collection was collected by the city authorities in 1973. It was dedicated to the Thirty Years' War of 1618-1648. Among the exhibits of the museum are old engravings and paintings depicting the battles of those times; a rare flintlock gun of the 18th century, soldiers' uniforms, black and white photographs depicting the life of aristocrats; documents illustrating the history of the creation of the Finnish army.

The Lappeenranta Cavalry Museum is open to the public on schedule during the summer and by appointment at other times.
