Yatkian Kunttila in Finland, Rovaniemi resort
Rating: 8,0/10 (2222 votes)  Yatkian Kunttila is an automobile cable-stayed bridge in the city of Rovaniemi, laid over the Kemijoki River. It is a kind of visiting card of the city due to its unusual appearance: at the top of the bridge pylon there are electric bulbs that create the effect of burning candles. Such candles were installed by loggers on their rafts. In 1983, a competition was held in Rovaniemi for the best design of a new bridge. The customer was the Lapland Road Administration, and the winners were the Finnish companies WSP and Mestra Engineering Ltd with the project of the cable-stayed single-pylon bridge. The bridge is 327 meters long and was built in 1987-1989. The width of the bridge is 25.5 meters: there are four lanes for traffic, sidewalks with bicycle paths on both sides of the bridge.
