Ruins of the ancient city of Medina Azahara in Spain, resort of Cordoba
Rating: 7,6/10 (1011 votes)  This ancient Arab palace complex is located eight kilometers from Cordoba. It was built under the Umayyad caliph in the 10th century as a gift to his beloved concubine and government office. Buildings on the territory of the complex were supposed to demonstrate the strength and power of the ruler, serve to strengthen his power. However, the residence was in use for only 70 years, before the Berber attack. After that, the palace was abandoned. Excavations are still underway on the territory of Medina al-Sahara. Archaeologists are constantly finding something new, and it seems that the treasures of this palace are inexhaustible.
