St. Sweetbert's Church is a Catholic church located in the Kaiserwerth district. In 1982, the temple was included in the list of protected historical and architectural monuments. Around 700, Saint Sweetbert founded a monastery on land donated by the Frankish major Pepin II. At that time, it was a small artificial island located in the old branch of the Rhine River, on which there was already a Frankish mound surrounded by a moat and a palisade. In the middle of the 11th century, construction of a new basilica begins on the site of the old monastery church. The basilica was made in late Romanesque style. In 1237 the choir of the church takes on the Gothic style.
